St Barnabas C of E Primary School

Equality objectives

Our school is an inclusive school. We aim to make all children feel included in our curriculum.

We try to make all our teaching fully inclusive, and give children an awareness of the rich diversity of life.

We have developed systems for early identification of barriers to learning, so that all children can be supported in accessing the curriculum. We believe in high expectations for all children.

We encourage equality and diversity throughout our school, including in our curriculum.  No-one will be discriminated against. The use of stereotypes will always be challenged.

In order to help achieve this, we have set the following equality objectives for 2022-2026:

  • Objective 1: To close gaps in learning and achievement for all groups of children (such as children eligible for free-school meals, those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, looked after children, and children from different backgrounds).
  • Objective 2: To promote a cultural understanding, awareness and respect of different religious beliefs between different ethnic groups within our school community, so everyone is treated with respect.
  • Objective 3: To ensure high attendance of all children (including those mentioned in the first objective) to help them flourish.
  • Objective 4: To make sure our curriculum is accessible to all children, no matter their needs or backgrounds.
  • Objective 5: Continue to provide opportunities for all parents/carers to participate in the life of the school.

The above enables us to comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), in line with the Equalities Act 2010.
