The school day
The two school gates (on St Barnabas Road and on Kitchener Road) open at 8:45am and close at 8:55am for the children to make their way to class.
Members of staff are outside at the gates during this time to welcome the children and answer any questions parents/ carers or children may have. Class-based staff welcome the children when they arrive in the classrooms, and help them to settle so they can begin their learning.
The register is taken at 9am.
Any children arriving after the gates have closed at 8:55am will have to enter school via the main reception on St Barnabas Road, and will be given a late mark on the register.
For all year groups except Years 5 and 6, the end of the school day is 3:15pm.
For Years 5 and 6, the end of the school day is 3:20pm.
The different finishing times are because we stagger lunchtimes to give the children more space to eat their lunch and run around the playground in.
In a typical week, for every year group except Years 5 and 6, the total hours provided in school are 32 hours and 30 minutes.
For Years 5 and 6, the total hours provided in school are 32 hours and 55 minutes.
The teaching time for every year group is still the same.
We have a nursery which runs from 8:45-11:45am, and our nursery children should be dropped off and collected at the classroom door, with parents/ carers entering the school via the gate on Kitchener Road.
